A beginner's guide to YOGA
designed for YOUR
BODY
and YOUR NEEDS
For
beginners and to refresh the returning yogi, YOUR YOGA will strengthen your
body, lengthen your endurance and prepare you for any yogic path you choose
to follow.
YOUR YOGA is created
for you. The foundation of all yoga traditions is rooted within the personal
practice of the individual. With the guidance of a private instructor all
asanas (postures), and basic techniques can be modified to suit YOUR
BODY.
YOUR YOGA classes will provide:
- the attention
and the skills you need to safely pursue a lifelong practice of any
style of yoga, including YOUR
YOGA.
- the anatomy & physiology of breath and movement
- a course rooted in the ethics and discipline of the ancient yoga traditions customized for YOUR HEALTH
YOUR YOGA PRACTICE TIPS
- The digestive system should be empty. Before breakfast
or at least 2-4 hours after a light meal. Plenty of water and a small healthy
meal should follow your practice session.
- Practice regularly, whether daily or several times a week
to achieve muscle memory and a biological rhythm.
- Do not wear clothing that will restrict your breath or movement.
- You will be barefoot.
- Discuss any injuries or illnesses with your instructor prior to the start of any class. Speak up regarding any pain during class.
- During menstruation a Restorative routine should be adopted for your usual practice. Mention this to your instructor and your class will immediately be adjusted to alleviate the usual menstrual symptoms.
- Do not hold your breath. You will be given instruction to inhale & exhale and your instructor will adjust the pace of the class to your breath.
- Do not force your body into any posture. This is a dangerous
habit that private instruction will prevent; no need to compete, you are
the head of the class!
